In Arizona, primary schools in the district of Flagstaff is sending notices to parents of children that their children are overweight. Weigh and measure each student if the student is heavy for its size, weight or moderately close to one of these extremes is received a notice sent to parents telling them what needs to change. Is it too soon for a student to have to worry about their bodies? This “warning” seems like it could cause problems with self-esteem in young children. Is there a time when a child is supposed to be just a kid with no worries?
We adults think back to our childhood and say, would not it be nice to have this young innocent carefree spirit again? Now think how you would feel if your parents have been notified. It seems that the school district has exceeded its limits and school officials. Schools should focus on education, doctors should advise parents of potential health risks. What schools could do would benefit the children would be to offer healthy foods in the cafeteria, in vending machines in hallways and promote physical education department. It seems vague and cheaper for them to send a notification, which are basically saying, do not go to serve healthy foods because it is too expensive and too cheap to strengthen our physical education department. Because of this laziness, self-esteem of the children involved and now there is something “wrong” with them.
Besides all this, the announcement is a slap in the face of many parents. It is basically to criticize the parents say they feed their unwanted children, too much or not enough. Parents know their children, they see every day, know that if your son or daughter is a little heavy, but realizes that they can go through a growth spurt soon as they did as children. They know that their son or daughter with a thin filling fast metabolism with age. Everyone is built different, some people can weigh a lot because of the muscles or bones because they are larger. These people can be healthier and people eat well and exercise, but just different. Children who are playing under normal conditions may be those who eat fast food every day and play video games all day after school, but your body metabolizes food faster, so they are considered healthy, according the school level.
